This voltage reducer is rated at 10 amps continuous service at 50 watts max. Please read the following instructions in this listing as this units gets very warm when in use. It is suitable for blower motors, wipers and lights that will not draw more than 10 amps. If you are powering multiple units and you do not know the amperage draw for each unit, it is suggested you buy a separate reducer for each component. This unit is safer and much more reliable than the less expensive ceramic type voltage reducers. Compact 1″ x 1″ x 3″ size occupies little space. This voltage reducer allows you to keep most 6 voltage electrical components when you upgrade the electrical system to 12 volts. For most applications the best place to mount the voltage reducer is on the inside of the metal air duct housing. The air blowing across the reducer will help to cool it. Tech Tip – Most all original 6 volt control switches are designed to carry the heavy amperage of 6-volts and should work fine on 12-volts. If however, your switch gets hot when in use, you have the odd exception. In that case simply install the reduce before the switch. The reducer can be mounted in any position. Step 1) Disconnect the positive cable from the battery. Step 2) Carefully mount the voltage reducer inside of the metal heater air duct housing on the air exit side (or any non-flammable surface) using pair of sheet metal screws (6 x 3/8). The 6 volt load can be connected to either end of the reducer using insulated (22-18 gauge) female spade terminal connectors . Step 3) Attach the switch end to the remaining terminal end of the voltage reducer using an insulated 22-18 gauge female spade terminal connectors. Step 4) Reconnect the battery. NOTE: If you have a POSITIVE GROUND system, this unit may not function properly. We have had a few circumstances where this unit has not worked on positive ground systems. Caution: This voltage reducer will become very warm during normal use. Do not mount this voltage reducer on or near any flammable area. Use caution when working around voltage reducer after it has been in use. Wording or stock number on this unit may differ from the picture on the listing. If you want to test this unit, it has to be on a 6 volt load to get an accurate reading. If you test the resistor itself without a 6 volt load, it will read 12 volts.
